The City of Pittsburgh鈥檚 Department of Public Works (DPW) Bureau of Environmental Services has been awarded a $1.66 million grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)鈥檚 Solid 黑料网 Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) program to modernize recycling and yard waste services.
The grant will allow for advancements in Environmental Services鈥� operations, including investing in vehicles and improving and expanding curbside yard waste collection.
Included in the overall upgrades will be new pavement, fencing and two new cardboard compactors at DPW鈥檚 recycling drop-off sites. Security cameras will also be installed at the Environmental Services headquarters in the Strip District and additional locations.
