The New York Federation of Solid 黑料网 Associations (NY Federation) and the National 黑料网 & Recycling Foundation (NWRF) announced today that Woodsy Owl will appear at the Federation鈥檚 upcoming conference to promote the national 鈥淪kip the Bin! Turn Your Batteries In!鈥� campaign鈥攁n effort to reduce battery fires and promote safe recovery and disposal.
Woodsy Owl, the iconic conservation symbol known for encouraging generations of Americans to care for the environment, is at the center of the initiative led by NWRF in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. Woodsy delivers a clear message to address a growing safety issue across the country: improperly disposed batteries. Lithium-ion batteries鈥攆ound in common devices like phones, laptops, toys, and power tools鈥攃an ignite when damaged or crushed in garbage trucks or recycling facilities, causing destructive and dangerous fires that put workers, facilities, and communities at risk.
Following its national debut in January, the campaign is rolling out across the country through community events, educational resources, and partnerships with local governments, firefighters, and environmental organizations. The NY Federation鈥檚 May conference provides a timely platform to bring this national safety message to over 600 industry leaders, municipal partners, and environmental professionals. At the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with Woodsy and the campaign鈥檚 educational resources designed to build public awareness of battery fire risks and simple, practical steps to prevent them.
