The Coast ºÚÁÏÍø Management Association announces its 2026–2027 Board of Directors. Returning to the board are Chair Sean Kawakami (Convertus Group), Vice Chair Sonam Bajwa (Regional District of Nanaimo), Treasurer Peter Grant (Salt Spring Island Community Services), and Directors Tim Ames (First Nations Recycling Initiative), Veronica Bartlett (Dillon Consulting), Avril Gilmour Ford (Capital Regional District), and Michael Zarbl (independent consultant).

We are also delighted to welcome Lucas Harris (Recycle BC / SK Recycles) to the board. Lucas’s connection to CWMA goes back to 2012, when he attended the conference as a young Surfrider Foundation volunteer curious about Styrofoam recycling — and his career since has taken him through the BC Ministry of Environment’s EPR team, research on marine plastic debris, effective non-profit management at Surfrider Canada, and now at Recycle BC, where he leads program planning, policy development, and producer engagement.

As we welcome the incoming board, we also want to take a moment to recognize our outgoing director. After six years of dedicated service, Rory Tookehas stepped back from the board. Serving through his roles with both the City of Victoria and the Capital Regional District, Rory brought deep regulatory expertise, high integrity, and was a steady resource for ensuring CWMA upheld best practices at every turn. Chair Sean Kawakami offered particular thanks at the AGM, noting that the board learned a tremendous amount from Rory on the regulatory side of things, and that his guidance kept them at the highest levels of due diligence as directors. Thank you, Rory, for six years of high-calibre commitment.

A strong board, an engaged community, and a lot of good work ahead. Thank you, as always, to every member and industry friend who makes CWMA what it is.
