This summer, SWACO is partnering with local communities to keep Household Hazardous ºÚÁÏÍø (HHW) out of the Franklin County Landfill by offering free drop-off events throughout the county.Ìý This weekend’s event is in Columbus, and other mobile collection events will follow in September and October in Grove City and Westerville, respectively.Ìý In addition, SWACO maintains a permanent HHW collection point at 645 E. 8th Avenue in Columbus.
Households generate a wide range of poisonous, dangerous, flammable, and corrosive products, including lawn chemicals, solvents, household cleaners and pool chemicals. These materials should not be tossed out with household garbage but should be taken to a mobile collection event or SWACO’s permanent HHW facility located at 645 E. 8th Avenue in Columbus (43201).
Saturday’s event is at the City of Columbus’ ºÚÁÏÍø and Reuse Convenience Center, so in addition to HHW, residents can bring other harder-to-recycle items for disposal, such as electronics, Styrofoam, and scrap metal.
